Melody Libonati
Director
Melody is the founding Director and Instructor of The Performing Arts Conservatory of New Canaan. As a professional actress, Melody has performed leading roles in Broadway Musicals, National Tours and Regional Theatre Companies. She held a leading role on the soap opera, One Life to Live, has recorded award winning radio and TV jingles and has been featured in numerous national and regional TV commercials (including the spokeswoman for Waldbaum’s Supermarkets for 9 years) As a cabaret performer in NYC, Melody’s act was acclaimed by New York Critics. She has performed concerts and cabaret evenings for numerous community fund raising benefits. As a director and choreographer, Melody has directed numerous plays and directed and choreographed over a dozen musicals utilizing professional, student and local talents.
She is the artistic director for the Summer Theatre of New Canaan where
she directed The Music Man, Peter Pan, Sound of Music and Cinderella.
As a professional educator, Melody has written and produced “Melody’s
Drama Rama Kids”, a pre-school creative play pilot Music / TV
program adapted from her young children classes taught in New York
City and Connecticut. Melody developed the performing
arts program for 13 years at the King & Low-Heywood Thomas High
School where she directed the plays and musicals, taught musical theater,
acting, dance, speech, and choral singing to hundreds of high school
and middle school students. Melody holds a teaching degree from Ithaca
College in Drama-Speech and is a certified yoga instructor. Melody is
a member of SAG, AFTRA, Actors Equity and BMI.
